Gwell is Welsh for better.
We are a wellness company with one goal: live better.
Our food embodies this goal with only natural and organic ingredients, no dairy, no soy, no gluten, no artificial colors, artificial flavors, preservatives, or fillers ever.
We thoughtfully select our ingredients to optimize wellness benefits in under 3 bites.
We are not in the business of making sacrifices when it comes to flavor. Our flavors our inspired by our culture and our community.
Balance. We love a warm cup of tea just as much as we love a great cocktail. If you want to have your cake and eat it too, then you've come to the right place. We create effective wellness foods for everyday life with flavors inspired by our multicultural heritage.
Here you won't have to choose between your dietary needs or food sensitivities and a satisfying snack.
Hi my name is Fawziyya Sugai and I'm the founder of Gwell. I'm also someone who is struggled for over 15 years with chronic illness. During that time I was juggled finding ways to balance a demanding career in fashion in New York City and all of the symptoms I was experiencing from fibroid's, PCOS, and endometriosis.
I realized that I needed things to just help me get through the day so I started creating snacks for myself. I had to change my diet to support myself but I couldn't find those things at the deli near my office.
When I decided to create Gwell it was not because I thought that these snacks alone could solve my problems or the problems of anyone with chronic illness. It was because I realized that just like me there are tons of people who are looking to find balance. People who want to take small, consistent steps in their lives that help them get one step closer to feeling better.
We intentionally built our business, starting in our local neighborhood of Harlem, where food deserts are common. Since inception, we’ve partnered with local organizations to expand access to wellness education and contributed to organizations that support improving equitable access to food. Our mission as a business is to improve food equity. Learn more here
I realized I left out a big part of my motivation. I always say that I founded Gwell to help people to find the balance they are seeking, but it is more than that. The food we eat has a significant impact on our health and well-being. I wanted to create clean foods that actually help you to function better without all of the nasty ingredients that can harm you long-term.
Women in particular face challenges such as fibroids, infertility, and either hair loss or excess hair growth stemming from hormonal imbalances that foods in our food ecosystem perpetuate.
We can do better for ourselves and our families.
Our goal at Gwell is to make it easier.
